Happy Independence Day

I wanted to take a moment to wish you and your family a happy and safe Independence Day.

On July 4th, 1776, our forefathers adopted the Declaration of Independence, notifying Great Britain that the United States of America would no longer recognize a tyrannical monarch.  The brave men who signed this document risked their lives to create a sovereign nation founded on the principles of freedom, liberty, and justice.  They envisioned a government where the people’s voice would be heard and all citizens would be guaranteed certain unalienable rights.  In the following years, throughout the thirteen colonies, newly minted Americans gave their lives to uphold this vision and fight for the future of the United States of America.

As we celebrate this historic event with those closest to us, it is important we give thanks to the men and women of our Armed Forces who provide an invaluable service to our country, risking their own lives to protect the freedoms we enjoy today.  We must uphold and preserve the ideals of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, ensuring a free and prosperous nation for future generations of Americans.  As your representative, I will continue to stand by these principles and make sure your voice is heard in Washington.
