News from Representative Cummings

October 3, 2016

Dear Friend,

When Governor Larry Hogan cancelled the Red Line light rail system, he not only walked away from hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funding, he made a decision that will shape the connections and barriers that will continue to define the geography of our Baltimore City and its residents’ lives for decades to come.
The Red Line would have connected many of our communities in which access to jobs and opportunity is most limited.

After canceling the Red Line, Governor Hogan promised a redesign of the Baltimore bus system that would transform it.  While the Governor’s willingness to redraw the bus network offers a great opportunity to create the links that local residents really need, this will be achieved only if the administration considers all comments – including critical ones – and makes the investments necessary to achieve a true transformation.
