Farm Fresh Fridays offers a way to help students develop connections to local food, farmers and ranchers while adding local flavor to school menus and teaching students about Texas agriculture.

Watch this video to learn more about Farm Fresh Fridays.

Celebrating Farm Fresh Fridays

Schools can turn Fridays into Farm Fresh Fridays to create new excitement and appreciation for Texas products. Also, Farm Fresh Fridays will highlight existing efforts to incorporate local products into school meals and provide an opportunity to engage entire communities in Texas agriculture.

How to get Farm Fresh Fridays at your school?

Take the Local Products Challenge!
TDA is challenging schools to incorporate more Texas products into cafeteria meals served during the month of October.

Local Products Challenge participants will receive Farm Fresh Fridays materials to help with celebrations:
• student incentive stickers
• buttons for team members to wear and show their support for Texas products
• static clings to identify local products on the cafeteria line

Texas schools still have time to participate in this year’s Local Products Challenge. Registration details here.

Plan a Farm Fresh Fridays event.

Make Texas the star of your NSLW celebration, Oct. 12-16. You can use TDA's theme Discover the Great Plate of Texas with a Healthy Lunch to support your celebration while helping students learn more about local products.

TDA has prepared an online toolkit to help with NSLW celebrations. The toolkit includes:
• a weeklong menu featuring Texas grown foods
• suggested morning announcements
• October menu calendar template
