Dear Friends:

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed life as we know it for everyone, but our children have been particularly hard hit by the uncertainty and fear that spreads at an even faster rate than this virus. Their families and educators remain dedicated to their academic, social, and personal growth during these difficult times. And our students and their families have done an excellent job of doing all of this while sheltering-in-place to keep the spread of the virus at a minimum, no doubt saving countless lives. But though they are necessary, these safety protocols have had an undeniable impact on our children’s ability to continue learning, access food, and manage stress at levels they need to grow and thrive. Many school districts are in dire need of additional assistance as they work to provide vital services like distance learning and nutritional, mental health, and other support. And many of you, like me, are looking for ways to help.

Silicon Valley Community Foundation, in collaboration with the San Mateo County and Santa Clara County Offices of Education, has established the COVID-19 Education Partnership to provide that critically needed assistance. If you have been thinking about how you can support students during these difficult times, the Education Partnership is a wonderful option. You can donate here, and for more information on the COVID-19 Partnership, please visit the San Mateo County Office of Education’s website here.

ImageWe’re all familiar with the African proverb, “it takes a village to raise a child.” These words of wisdom ring true more than ever during times of crisis. This moment will pass and America, and the world, will emerge from this global catastrophe. But the ability of our children to survive this challenge with the skills they need to succeed comes down to each of us doing what we can to help. If you able to donate, I hope you will join me in supporting this worthy cause. If you can’t donate, please share this information with friends and family who can. By working together, we will come through this better and stronger.

 All my best,
