News from Representative Tom Emmer

Dear Friend,

Congratulations to United States women’s soccer team on claiming their fourth Women's World Cup title! An achievement like this takes tremendous leadership and perseverance. Every day, we see new women leaders drive their own future, and realize new accomplishments.

Since I’ve been in Congress, my office has held its annual Young Women Leadership Program (YWLP) series to cultivate the next generation of leaders right here at home!

YWLP is a program designed to give young women in Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District ranging from 9th to 12th grade- the opportunity to learn from and engage with some of Minnesota's top female leaders. Mentorship is vital to ensuring our future leaders have the tools they need to succeed, so it is an honor to provide this incredible opportunity for young Minnesotans.

YWLP relies on woman-owned or women-run businesses to host these sessions. We kicked off this year's program with our first meeting at Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park, hosted by Brandy Gilbert. We are grateful she was willing to open her doors to our event and show our participants what her awesome facility does to provide safe fun for kids of all ages!

Following the tour, YWLP participants have the chance to ask each of the panelists about their career, the journey, and the challenges they overcame to succeed.

Our first panelists were Jan Lehman; CEO, Executive Coach, Productivity Expert, Speaker of CTC Productivity, Gail Essen; President of Professional Security Advisors, and Insurance Advisor for Dyste-Williams; Beth Snyder-Jones. Without the partnership of our incredible mentors, YWLP would not be possible.

I am inspired by the future leaders who participate in YWLP each year. These young women make lifelong friends, gain valuable insights, and develop connections with our panelists who want to see them succeed.
