Weekly Newsletter

This week, I was honored to hold a roundtable with Labor Secretary Marty Walsh and labor leaders in Las Vegas to discuss the current state of the industry and how we can all work together towards a brighter future for Nevada and our workers. Nevada is a strong labor and union State and as Governor, I’m proud to strengthen our union legacy by pushing for policies that work for working Nevadans. Just by looking out at the Las Vegas skyline form the window in the Grant Sawyer State Office building where we held the roundtable, you can see just how big of an impact our laborers have had. Las Vegas has become a worldwide destination, built from the ground up by the hardworking men and women of organized labor. I’m committed to the success of our laborers and always have their lives at the forefront of my mind when making policy decisions that impact their lives.

At the roundtable, we talked about ways we can protect our workers and their health – and this week, we took action to do just that. I’m proud to officially launch ArrayRx – a free prescription drug discount card for ALL Nevadans. During my State of the State address in February, I promised Nevada would join the Northwest Prescription Drug Consortium, now called ArrayRx, to address high prescription drug prices. Prescription medications can get too expensive – this program will help Nevadans keep more money in their pockets. To enroll online, click here.
Thank you,

Governor Sisolak

This Week’s Nevada Small Business Spotlight: Dam Roast House & Browder Bookstore

Image

Friends Amber Stephens, Misty Magruder and Travis Wallgren wanted to create a relaxing environment where you could get a delicious cup of coffee and food, enjoy good conversation and even have a place for the kiddos to play; a place where the community could gather in a welcoming space. That is exactly what they have done at Dam Roast House and Browder Bookstore.

Dam Roast House loves supporting their community. In fact, one of their core values is “Community, not Competition”. They believe that prioritizing the wellbeing of the community and supporting other local small businesses allows for the entire community to thrive. If Dam Roast House can source a product locally, they do! Their greens, pastries and their locally roasted beans are all sourced from Boulder City…just to name a few. When you support Dam Roast House you are actually supporting several local businesses. This concept is even used in their bookstore. They carry over 40 local authors along with best sellers and other unique titles.

Another way Dam Roast House & Browder Bookstore supports the community is by participating in the Nevada Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiative. The purpose of the initiative is to promote individual wellness by creating work environments that further the mental and physical well-being of employees; proactively preventing substance misuse and celebrating recovery from addiction in the workplace and the community. Dam Roast House hopes to help challenge the stigma of addiction and mental health and not only save lives and strengthen families by doing so, but also help build a more understanding and supportive community.

Check out Dam Roast House and Browder Bookstore at their website www.damroasthousebc.com or on the socials @DamRoastHouse

The Nevada Health Response wants to remind Nevadans to take steps to help reduce the risk of COVID-19 and prevent spread. COVID-19 vaccines and booster doses are available in locations statewide and can protect against serious infection. Pre-exposure medication or oral antivirals and monoclonal antibody treatments are available to those that are eligible soon after infection occurs.

Resources available to help Nevadans mitigate the risk of COVID-19:
