News from Representative Tom Emmer

Dear Friend,

In June, the House took a step forward to provide resources for our veterans and military. I was proud to support the Fiscal Year 2019 Energy and Water, Legislative Branch, and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act, which the President signed into law last week. This critical appropriations measure will provide the resources our veterans and military desperately need.

For our veterans, who have sacrificed so much, this measure provides the largest dollar amount for the VA in history. Our VA has one of the most important missions; they have been tasked with caring for those who have fought to preserve and protect our nation. This funding will support Congress’ agenda to minimize wait times, and boost accountability in the VA health care system.

From my first term in Congress, I have been committed to serving those who have sacrificed for our freedoms. Our VA health care system must treat our veterans with the respect and care they deserve. Specifically, boosting accountability has always been a priority of mine, and I am pleased to see the funding approved to inch closer to accomplishing that goal.

For our current service members, this legislation provides funding to repair and improve our crumbling military infrastructure, maintain and improve our nuclear capabilities, and focus on strengthening our nation’s electrical grid. Our nation must rise to meet the needs of the future, and our national security is of the utmost importance.

I will continue to support our nation’s heroes, and their families. Congress has kept our promise, to ensure the brave men and women who selflessly serve our country remain our main-focus. We will continue to ensure our veterans and service members receive the care they deserve.
