News from Representative Tom Emmer

Dear Friend,

Last week, while I was at the Minnesota State Fair, I stopped by WCCO’s booth to chat with Chad Hartman. In case you missed it, check out the full interview here.

The House returns to session today to tackle important items on the agenda including completing the appropriations process on time, Tax Reform 2.0 and passing a Farm Bill. (Meanwhile, my colleagues in the Senate also have important business to get to; Judge Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court confirmation hearings begin today.) Getting these things done for the American people is the most important job for all members of Congress. To that end, I am exclusively focused on my job as a legislator here in Washington on behalf of Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District.

Congressional App Challenge

I am happy to announce that my office will once again be participating in the Congressional App Challenge. In 2013, Congress established this challenge, recognizing that Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) skills are becoming increasingly important to the economic success of the United States. People who are trained in these fields will be better equipped to find work and advance their career in a world that is increasingly dominated by technology.

This competition invites high school students around the country to compete against their classmates in creating their own software application for mobile devices, better known as an app. The application period has begun!
