News from Representative Tom Emmer

Dear Friend,

Last night, my office conducted the second session of our Young Women Leadership Program (YWLP) series! YWLP is an annual program designed to give young women in Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District the opportunity to learn from and engage with some of Minnesota's top female leaders. Mentorship is vital to ensuring our future leaders have the tools they need to succeed, so it is an honor to provide this incredible opportunity for young Minnesotans.

YWLP participants have the chance to ask each of the panelists about their career, the journey and the challenges they overcame to succeed. Last night’s panelists were Jill Johnson, Founder and President of Johnson Consulting Services; Joy Lindsay, Founder and President of StarTec Investments; and Roberta Dressen, Senior Advisor of LFE Capital. Huge thanks to these successful Minnesotans for taking the time to share their insights with our participants! Without the partnership of our incredible panelists, YWLP would not be possible.

YWLP also relies on woman-owned or women-run businesses to host the sessions. This month, our host was Dr. Tamara Smith of Blaine Orthodontics. We are grateful she was willing to open her doors to our event and show our participants what her clinic does on a day-to-day basis!

I am inspired by the young women who participate in YWLP each year. They are inquisitive and engaged. As we have seen this program grow, we have been able to follow these young women as they launch their own journeys.
