As we continue to overcome and rebuild from this pandemic, there is no priority more important for me than Nevada’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Under my direction, all our State agencies are focused on creating high-paying job opportunities and connecting Nevadans to the skills and resources they need for these jobs.

That is why on Tuesday, I am hosting a “JobFest” at the Las Vegas Convention Center. With more than 150 employers planning to attendi, this is the largest job fair in Nevada state history.

I encourage all who could benefit from this JobFest to take advantage of this opportunity as  we need to work together to rebuild and reinvent ourselves as we continue to work together towards a brighter future.

Jobseeker pre-registration is encouraged and available HERE, but not mandatory. Employers and businesses’ who would like to participate can email Nevada JobConnect Business Services Office at BusinessServices2@detr.nv.gov  or by calling 702-486-0129.

As long as I am Governor, you have my support that I will continue to do everything  to help lead the recovery for the people of this great State.

Thank you,
Gov Sisolak

Governor Sisolak celebrates Healthcare Week in Nevada, focuses on the health care economy, increasing access to vulnerable populations and additional mental health support

Image

Strengthening supports and expanding access to healthcare options has always been a priority for me. The COVID-19 pandemic has only added to the sense of urgency.  This is why this week I was grateful for the opportunity to visit frontline health care workers to discuss ways Nevada can build upon existing supports and resources to continue down our path of success.
On Tuesday, I was honored that Geoconda Hughes welcomed me into her home so I could learn more about her experience as a nurse and a practitioner during the pandemic. Our doctors and nurses will continue to work around the clock for Nevadans, but they are tired, and we can help give them a break by getting vaccinated. Read her story in the Las Vegas Review-Journal HERE.

Additionally, thank you to SEIU Local 1107 for hosting a roundtable discussion for us alongside the Philippine Nurses Association of Nevada (PNANV). Now more than ever, it’s  important that we hear challenges, ideas, and solutions from our nurses on the ground.

On Wednesday, I paid a visit to Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada. Thank you, Dr. Jameson, for welcoming us into your facility and for all the work you do to help increase access for vulnerable populations - a priority we share.

Image

Our second stop  was at the Martin Luther King Family Health Center, a Federally Qualified Healthcare Center that provides primary care services in underserved areas. The Martin Luther King Health Center is the largest health center and captures about 36,000 of their total annual patient visits.

On Thursday, we continued Healthcare Week in Nevada by traveling north to Reno where I was glad to visit Quest Counseling, a Certified Behavioral Health Center.  I continued to learn more about the crucial services they provide to the community. Mental health care is health care and mental health care for Nevadans is a priority for me.

Image

I was also able to stop by Crisis Support Services, which serves as Nevada’s crisis intervention center. They provide 24/7, free and confidential care to individuals contemplating suicide, experiencing distress, or are victims of sexual assault or abuse.

Thank you to all of the medical providers and professionals for opening their doors to me, but most importantly, thank you for all the work you do every single day in order to keep Nevadans safe and healthy – Thank you!

Governor Sisiolak Hosts “Light the Menorah” Event at the Governor’s Mansion

Image

This week, I was honored to host the long-standing “Light the Menorah” event at the Mansion alongside members of Nevada’s Jewish Community and families as we came together to light the Menorah in observance of Hannukah. The Jewish community in our State and throughout the world continues to remain strong and resilient and I could not be more grateful to have celebrated this special occasion with everyone here tonight – Thank you!

This Week’s Nevada Small Business Spotlight: “CraftHaus Brewery”

Image

When Wyndee and Dave Forrest returned home to Henderson from a trip to Europe, they wondered why they couldn’t find the same “full-flavored beer” they had enjoyed abroad. Dave started out home brewing and one day submitted a video proposal to the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company in Chico, California, for an opportunity to attend a beer camp. Dave was one of 10 people selected out of 6,000 who applied.

In 2014, Wyndee and Dave started CraftHaus Brewery. Today, they are passionate about building a community around quality driven beers. Wyndee and Dave Forrest successfully changed licensing for the city of Henderson and Las Vegas to a more craft friendly license. Wyndee is the president of the Nevada Craft Brewers Association executive board. Both UNLV alumni, they are excited about announcing a pending arrangement to become the official beer of UNLV.

Named Favorite Local Brewery, Reader’s Choice, Las Vegas Weekly 2018. Winner, Top 100 Businesses Coast to Coast, Yelp! Nevada’s Greenest Brewery 2018 and Best Family Owned Business, Nevada Entrepreneur Magazine 2016. Their beer can be found in stores throughout Las Vegas and now in the Reno area. For more information go to www.crafthausbrewery.com  Their first taproom was built at 7350 Eastgate Rd #110, Henderson, NV 89011. They also opened a second taproom in the Las Vegas Arts District two years ago!

With tasty beers and bites, there’s something for everyone from light and refreshing to thick and velvety, locals and tourists are sure to discover their new favorite brew! They also wanted to share it’s a great month to check out the patio seating at CraftHaus Arts District – in addition to their delicious brews, guests can pair up their favorites with delicious sausage options. Fan favorites like the CraftHaus pretzel rolls and charcuterie plates are also available. Menu only available at the Arts District location at 197 E California Ave.
