Weekly Newsletter

This week, I was joined by Homeland Security Chief Dave Fogerson, Incident Commander Sharon Luce, and Region 9 Representatives to provide updates on the work and accomplishments so far on the State’s “Get Out the Vaccine” efforts.

When the White House first announced the option to have surge teams help augment State efforts, I immediately called Chief Fogerson to find out how to get boots on the ground in the Silver State.

In just about two weeks, we had teams from FEMA on the ground in Nevada working closely with Chief Fogerson’s team at DEM, leaders from our Department of Health and Human Services, and local partners like the Southern Nevada Health District.

Together, these teams quickly identified zip codes in Southern Nevada with low rates of vaccination and high rates of infection as target neighborhoods.

And while the FEMA surge teams are ending their mission – we are still working to ensure Nevadans have access to the COVID-19 vaccine. We are continuing to work with our local health authorities - like SNHD – and volunteer organizations to make sure we reach Nevadans across the State.

I want to close with a reminder to PLEASE, get your COVID-19 vaccine if you have not already done so. If you are eligible for a booster, please go get your booster shot. You can find a clinic near you by visiting www.nvcovidfighter.org.

Thank you,

Gov Sisolak

Governor Sisolak Addresses the National Immigrant Integration Conference

Image

Today, I had the honor of speaking at the National Immigrant Integration Conference at the Westgate Las Vegas. The State of Nevada could not be more proud to host such an amazing organization as they are the largest conference on immigration in the United States and play a crucial role in the broader immigrant and refugee rights and integration field.

Our DACA recipients, TPS holders, and other immigrant groups have contributed so much to our culture and economy that there MUST be lasting protections for them. Nevada is stronger and better because of our diversity - Immigrants & refugees enrich and revitalize our nation and our State.

I am grateful for the close collaboration and our efforts to work together to protect our workers and our visitors. I had a great time talking to so many industry leaders and to hardworking Nevadans who help make our State the best location for conferences and trade shows.
