Weekly Newsletter

This week, I was proud to sign multiple pieces of legislation into law, including Senate Bill 52, Senate Bill 71, and Senate Bill 342.

Senate Bill 52, sponsored by Lt. Gov. Kate Marshall, will establish a Statewide “Dark Sky Designation” program to protect and enhance Nevada’s dark sky areas for their ecological, astronomical, cultural, and economic importance. Nevada is home to some of the most beautiful night skies on the planet and the signing of this Dark Skies Bill celebrates this uniquely Nevadan asset by encouraging the protection of this public resource, while also sharing it with visitors to our state and thereby increasing tourism opportunities for rural cities and counties.

Senate Bill 71, sponsored by Treasurer Zach Conine, will help ensure that thousands of Nevadans can quickly receive funds that are rightfully owed to them. The changes in this bill will go a long way to making sure Nevadans who need a little extra help can more easily receive their Unclaimed Property.

Throughout the pandemic, we have relied on doctors, nurses, and medical professionals to care for Nevadans in need. This is why I was proud to be joined by UNR President and former Governor Brian Sandoval and Dr. Anthony Slonim, President and CEO of Renown Health as I signed Senate Bill 342 into law. The bill will help strengthen existing partnerships in the State so we can recruit, train and keep more medical professionals in Nevada.

As this legislative session comes closer to an end, you have my commitment that I will continue to work hard and fight on behalf of all Nevadans.

Thank you,
Gov Sisolak

Nevada Health Link Warns Against Scammers

 Image

With the newly-enacted American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) making headlines, scammers are on the prowl.  To safeguard yourself, remember these following facts; you will never be asked to pay for services or help to apply for Nevada Health Link coverage, beware of offers of incentives, talk only to a certified broker or navigator, you do not need additional insurance to cover COVID related issues.

The best way to navigate Nevada Health Link and the plans sold through the Exchange is to work with a certified broker or navigator. Their services are free and their goal is to help Nevadans get coverage and stay covered. Check out our ARPA Social Media Toolkit and help us spread the word to help more Nevadans save on Qualified Health Plans, now through August 15.
