Swearing-In for the 116th Congress

On Thursday, I was sworn in for my second term in Congress to represent Pennsylvania's new 11th District. The 11th District now covers Lancaster and parts of York County. Click here to see our new district map.

It's really an honor to represent you in Washington and I'm grateful for the opportunity every day.

Funding Border Security

As I've said before, securing our border is something I take very seriously in Congress, so it was disappointing when Democrats passed a sham bill on Thursday which didn't provide a single dime for our border wall.

From 2017-2018, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers arrested approximately 235,000 people entering our country illegally on various criminal charges or convictions inside the U.S. Around 100,000 of those were for assault, 30,000 for sex crimes and 40,000 for homicides.

Every month, we average 60,000 more illegal entries across our Southern Border. Nearly all heroin in our country is coming across the Southern Border.

Make no mistake: We need to keep our country safe. We need to secure our border.

Honoring the Heritage of the Susquehanna Valley

On Friday, I introduced legislation to highlight and honor the natural beauty of our region and its place in American history. The House approved the same measure with bipartisan support last year by a vote of 379-9.

The Susquehanna National Heritage Area Act would designate parts of the 11th District (Lancaster and York Counties) as National Heritage Areas (NHAs).

NHAs have a significant impact on the economy. A 2012 study by the Alliance of National Heritage Areas and National Park Service showed NHAs contribute nearly $13 billion annually to the national economy and support 148,000 jobs. The economic benefit of NHAs in the Northeast Region was $5.4 billion annually and nearly 67,000 jobs.

Our communities are filled with natural beauty and countless resources we need to maintain. It’s important we keep these places clean and safe for visitors and residents, which is why I’m proud to sponsor this bill in the House once more.
