Weekly Newsletter

As you may know, Nevada is home to roughly 3 million people — that’s 3 million reasons to unite behind life-saving COVID-19 vaccines. I wanted to take a moment to remind all Nevadans that ALL those16 and older are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

These vaccines are safe, effective, and free, and   we've taken important steps to ensure the vaccines are easily accessible for Nevadans wherever they are in the State. Getting the vaccine is simple and easy and will protect you and your family, and they will help restore and strengthen our communities.

So please, as soon as you are able, make your COVID-19 vaccine appointment. And then commit to helping your friends, family and loved ones make their appointments too. Together, we can help end this pandemic.

Thank you -
Gov. Steve Sisolak

Governor Sisolak celebrates CSN workforce development expansion

 ImageImage

With funding from this grant, CSN will develop new primary pathways into manufacturing and industrial skills occupations; pathways that will benefit employers and workers throughout Clark County. These new programs create the opportunity for at least 200 Nevadans annually to access training that was not previously available and for employers to tap into a skilled talent pipeline. That training turns into real jobs, for real Nevadans – which is one of the top priorities in our Every Nevadan Recovery effort. To read my full press release, click here.

Nevada Small Business Spotlight:  Tacotarian

Image
Carne asada, Tacos al pastor, and chicken milanesa are all foods that you normally would not associate with a vegan-friendly diet, but that just might be because you have not tried some of these delicious plates and more at the all-vegan plant-based Mexican eatery, Tacotarian.

Owners Dan Simmons, Regina Simmons, Carlos Corral, Kristen Corral, are the masterminds behind Tacotarian and the people who have inspired a whole generation of “Tacotarians”. What are Tacotarians you ask? As they put it, “Someone who eats a WHOLE LOT of plant-based tacos!”.

“Our concept was born out of a trip to Mexico City where we were inspired by so many veggie dishes with such flavor and love. We wanted to bring a modern take on Mexican culture and food to Las Vegas. While the focus is on our large taco selection, we offer many other Mexican staples with a twist.” - The Original Tacotarians

Located at the heart of the Arts District and, and in the southwest valley, and another location on its way in  Henderson, rest assured you are never too far away from a really great vegan taco! To learn more about their amazing plant-based dishes and their mission, make sure to check them out by clicking on their website HERE.

The DEA’s Take Back Day events, in collaboration with Nevada’s prevention coalitions, provide an opportunity for safe disposal of medications to help prevent addiction and overdose deaths. In addition, flushing prescription drugs contaminates water supplies. Find a location near you by clicking here.

Boards & Commissions

I am proud to announce 56 appointments were made to State of Nevada boards, commissions, and agencies during the month of March. I have appointed hundreds of individuals since assuming office, and I encourage anyone who might be interested in serving Nevada and their community to review opportunities posted on the Governor’s WEBSITE, which is updated on an ongoing basis.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS?

The Governor makes appointments to three types of boards and commissions:

  • Advisory - An advisory board, commission or council serves as a formal liaison between a state agency and the public, in addition to making recommendations on how to address specific issues.
  • Regulatory Board - Regulatory boards are those that oversee the licensing, handle complaints, and enforce disciplinary actions of individuals or industries that fall within the jurisdiction of the board’s authority.
  • Task Force - A task force is created for the purpose of accomplishing a definite objective and goal.

If you are interested in serving, apply now!
