Weekly Newsletter

This week marked a major milestone in Nevada’s fight against COVID-19. As of Monday, every Nevadan 16 and older became eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccine. I encourage all eligible Nevadans to make sure to get your shot and to talk to your friends, family, and loved ones about getting their shots.

On Monday, when all Nevadans became eligible, I had the opportunity to tour one of the two  new mobile vaccine units this morning with partners from the State, the Nevada National Guard, Federal Emergency Management Agency and so many more. These mobile units will help increase our access across the State. You can learn more about the incredible units here

As a State, we will continue to work to knock down barriers to access to ensure that all eligible Nevadans have access to the vaccine.

Thank you -
Gov. Steve Sisolak

Nevada Small Business Spotlight: Vinny’s Pizza

 Image

This week’s business highlight is Vinny’s Pizza. Whenever visitors drive to or from Boulder City to see the magnificent Hoover Dam or cross state lines into Arizona, the thought of pizza may not come to mind – but all of that may change after stopping by Vinny’s Pizzeria for the very first time!

Nestled right at the entrance of Boulder City on Boulder City Parkway, you will find Boulder City’s famous pizzeria and its owners Vincenzo “Vinny” Cimono, and his beloved wife, Tina.
After applying for the Nevada Pandemic Emergency Technical Support (PETS) grant, their business was awarded $10,000 to pay expenses like rent, inventory, payroll, utilities, and personal protective equipment.

“Things are just going to get better and better...We tried to keep all our employees, and we also built up carryout and delivery,” Vinny Cimono said. “Boulder City is loyal to its businesses. The customers are great. At the end of the day, the customers kept us going.”

Next time you are in Boulder City, don’t forget to visit Vinny’s Pizzeria and try some of their famous thin crust pizza, or their Chicago style pizza - Vinny’s pizzeria has all of the combos including pasta, calzones, and how can you forget about their delicious cannoli’s!

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS?

The Governor makes appointments to three types of boards and commissions:

  • Advisory - An advisory board, commission or council serves as a formal liaison between a state agency and the public, in addition to making recommendations on how to address specific issues.
  • Regulatory Board - Regulatory boards are those that oversee the licensing, handle complaints, and enforce disciplinary actions of individuals or industries that fall within the jurisdiction of the board’s authority.
  • Task Force - A task force is created for the purpose of accomplishing a definite objective and goal.
