News from Representative Larson

Dear Friends:

Last week was a busy week in Washington, D.C. Here are some updates:

I teamed up with Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to discuss the importance of Social Security and why we need to vote on the Social Security 2100 Act now. Watch here:

  • On October 31st I voted to formalize the impeachment inquiry. The President has brought this inquiry on himself through his actions.
  • This resolution establishes an open process with public hearings so that the American people have a clear understanding of what is happening as the committees continue to follow the facts.

Legislative Updates:

Cosponsor Updates:

  • As Chairman of the Social Security Subcommittee I’m working to strengthen Social Security. I signed on to Chairman Richard Neal’s bill to fix the Windfall Elimination Provision that affects public servants.
  • I cosponsored H.R. 2153- Keeping Girls in School Act, that recognizes the importance of girls across the globe attending school. It supports programs that address barriers to girls accessing a quality secondary education and requires the State Department to come up with a strategy to create a global strategy to empower adolescent girls.
  • Increasing access to mental health is imperative. I cosponsored H.R. 945, the Mental Health Access Improvement Act, which broadens the type of providers that are eligible to provide mental health services under Medicare Part B to include marriage and family counselors.
Thanks for taking the time to read my updates!

John B. Larson
Member of Congress
