News from Representative Larson

Dear Friends,

Over the October District Work Period I met and spoke with many of you at different events, provided updates on legislation, and held my second Senior Resource Fair of the year.

Here is a quick recap of the past two weeks:

  • I started off the work period at the Hartford Public Library talking about the importance of having a complete and accurate 2020 Census. Having an accurate representation of Connecticut is vital to ensuring the state receives appropriate federal funding, representation in Congress, and more.
  • I also joined the CT State Employees Association to give an update on the Social Security 2100 Act. This bill would expand and protect Social Security, making it solvent beyond this century!
  • The next week I visited the Manchester Fire Department to announce a grant being awarded to replace the department’s aging firefighter breathing apparatus. Our brave men and women put themselves in harms way to protect us; ensuring that they are protected while on the job is a top priority of mine.

  • Later that week I attended the groundbreaking of Goodwin College’s Campus Commons, a mixed-use commercial development. It was great to celebrate the first step in Goodwin College’s overall plan to develop the south end of Main Street in East Hartford.
  • To cap the week off I hosted a Senior Fair in East Hartford with over 15 government agencies and nonprofit organizations who shared the resources they provide. This was followed by a great discussion with Nora Duncan, Director of the Connecticut AARP, on issues affecting seniors.

If you ever need assistance with a federal agency, please don’t hesitate to call my Hartford Office at 860-278-8888, or send me an email.

Regards,
