News from Representative Tom Emmer

Dear Friend,

Friday was National Manufacturing Day, so I spent this week touring some of my district’s top manufacturers such as Custom Caseworks in Sauk Rapids.

I also had the opportunity to tour some fantastic educational institutions within the district that specialize in technical programs. I toured both Anoka Tech which offers more than 32 technical programs as well as Anoka Ramsey Community College, where I got to learn all about the only glass blowing program in the state.

I am proud to say that Minnesota is home to an impressive 292,000 manufacturing jobs, and as one of the main drivers of the economy, manufacturing generates billions of dollars in revenue each year.

Minnesotans are hardworking people and they deserve a strong state economy which allows for individual growth, prosperity and the pursuit of happiness. This is why I will continue to emphasize the value of manufacturing friendly policies for as long as I hold this seat.

I am proud to support manufacturing day in our country, but I want to make it clear that in Minnesota, every day is Manufacturing Day!

More of Obamacare’s Failures

As most of you are aware, this past week, we saw even more of Obamacare’s failures negatively impact Minnesotans. It is deeply upsetting to hear that for many individuals, premiums will rise more than 50 percent. This will be a huge blow to many families in our state - and it is one that they absolutely cannot afford and should not have to endure.

While in the past, I have voted to repeal Obamacare several times, I believe that those of us in Congress must do more than just oppose ideas. We must find solutions. The time has come to empower the American people by giving them back the power to choose their own doctors and coverage. This is why we are currently promoting a better way to handle health care in this country. To learn more about my stance on how we must fix our country’s healthcare crisis, check out my recent op-ed entitled “Stop Fighting, Start Fixing.”

Come Support Our Vets!

On October 15th, I will be hosting a Veterans Resource Fair to assist the men and women who have put their lives on the line in defense of this great nation. Since they have risked their lives to take care of us, we must return the favor and do everything we can to take care of them when they return home. The assistance that will be offered at the fair includes job and career opportunities, resume help, access to health professionals, VA assistance and so much more! I am excited to get out and help our nation’s heroes- and I hope to see many of you there!

Once again, thanks for keeping up with the work I am doing for Minnesota's Sixth District. Until next week...

Sincerely,
