News from Representative Tom Emmer

Dear Friend,

Time is absolutely flying by and I cannot believe that the summer months are already behind us. This past week marked my last full District Work Week in August before heading back to Washington D.C. I really enjoyed spending all of this time in my favorite place and meeting with many incredible Minnesotans.

Promoting Responsible Energy

Energy is a hot topic issue in our nation, and I strongly believe that we must take advantage of every resource available to us in order to reduce our dependency on foreign countries. Minnesota and the Sixth District play a great role in energy production, which is why this week I toured several sites that promote responsible energy. On Wednesday, I stopped by the Aurora Solar Energy Project site in Waconia to learn more about solar energy and the unlimited possibilities that it brings.

Later in the week I toured the Minnesota Bio-Fuels Association to learn more about our renewable fuels. Biofuels support Minnesotan jobs, Minnesota farmers, and the technologies that advance energy independence - making them necessary for success. I was incredibly impressed by both of these tours. It is due to their hard work that Minnesota has become a leader in responsible energy.

Wrapping up the Young Women Leadership Program

This year my office launched the Young Women Leadership Program in Minnesota’s Sixth District. This program was meant to offer an opportunity for high school girls to meet and interact with professional women in our state who have built successful careers and have held or currently hold leadership roles.

The Young Women Leadership Program consisted of three separate events held throughout the summer and this week we hosted our final event. I want to thank all of the young women and women professionals who participated. Great discussions were had, solid advice was given, and I was incredibly impressed with everyone involved. If you are interested in participating in next year’s program, or know someone who may be interested, click here

Helping Our Nations Heroes

Our soldiers and veterans are the best that this nation has to offer. They put their lives on the line and sacrifice so much so that the rest of us can go to bed in a nation that is free. Since they risk their lives to take care of us, I believe that we must take care of them once they return home. That is why I will be holding an upcoming Veterans Resource Fair on October 15th

I hope to see many of you there!

Once again, thanks for staying up to date on the work I am doing in Minnesota and Washington D.C. Until next week…
