News from Representative Carson

April 10, 2020

Dear Friend,

This week, COVID-19 continued to take its toll on people’s health and our nation’s economy. As your Member of Congress, I continue working hard every day to help Hoosiers weather this unprecedented crisis. Like many of you, my family has also been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. I’m praying for every Member of our community who is currently battling COVID-19 or has lost a loved one to the virus.

For many of us, our faith offers a bright light of hope in a sea of darkness. And that’s certainly true now, as millions of Americans celebrate important religious holidays in the midst of this crisis.

To Christians observing Holy Week: I hope that the love of Jesus, and the hope for rebirth and resurrection that defines the Easter season, inspires and strengthens you during this challenging time.

To my Jewish brothers and sisters who are observing Passover: Though you may be celebrating your Seders differently this year, I hope that the spirit of unity and togetherness that defines this holiday remains with you and your loved ones. Like the Israelites fleeing Egypt, we too will continue marching together towards a brighter future.

And to my fellow Muslims who will be celebrating Eid and Ramadan in the coming weeks: My heart breaks that we cannot physically be together for this holy time. But Ramadan teaches us the importance of sacrifice, and that value is clearer than ever this year. Let us use this timeless lesson to make this year’s observance even more meaningful.

No matter your faith, or if you have no faith at all, we are all in this together. We all have a role to play in making it through this dark chapter. I know that with the help of our faith, our families, our communities, and our values, we can emerge from this a stronger, more united, and more equitable nation.
