Dear Friend,

This week has been a challenge as Americans fight against the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. The number of cases in our state and across the nation continues to increase, and the economic toll grows more devastating.

Today, the March jobs report showed a loss of more than 700,000 jobs nationwide. Sadly, this data only tells part of the story, as these numbers only reflect the number of Americans who lost jobs earlier last month. We know that since then, millions more have filed for unemployment in our state and across the country.

Things are tough right now, but I continue to have hope that, as a community and a nation, we will overcome this unprecedented crisis. And I will always work to help Hoosiers and other Americans in need.

Earlier this week, I went live on Instagram with Marty Anderson, Deputy District Director of the Small Business Administration’s Indiana District Office. He helped answer your questions about help available to small businesses harmed by the pandemic. To watch the event, please click on this link, and for more information on this type of assistance, please visit SBA.gov/coronavirus.

I was honored to support emergency relief legislation, like the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which passed last week; it is already helping Americans weather this storm. And I’m continuing to work to make sure people receive their stimulus payments from this bill as quickly and as easily as possible. But it’s clear that as this crisis grows, Congress must do much more to help everyone in need. I pledge to remain at the forefront of these efforts which are already underway to help Hoosiers any way I can.

Meanwhile, we can all do our part to combat COVID-19 by practicing social distancing measures, following the stay-at-home order, plus maintaining good hygiene. It’s up to every single one of us to take these responsibilities seriously. If we do, we can save lives and get folks safely back to work sooner.

For information on resources available to you and your loved ones during this crisis, visit my website, or call my office at 317-283-6516.

Stay hopeful, and take care of yourselves and your loved ones.

Your Friend,

André
