News from Representative Carson

September 13, 2019

Dear Friend,

The House of Representatives reconvened this week after a productive district work period. I was pleased to spend lots of time in Indianapolis meeting with constituents and hearing what's on your minds.

A couple of the highlights include hosting my tenth annual Central Indiana Job Fair, which connected hard-working Hoosiers with around 130 employers in our region. Though our local economy is strong, there are still lots of folks who are out of work, underemployed, or just looking to give their career a boost. I'm honored to help connect them to great job opportunities through this event, which was a big success this year.

I also had the privilege of taking my first ride on the newly-completed Red Line -- the first component of Indianapolis' Bus Rapid Transit System. I fought for federal funding for this important transportation project, and worked with both the Obama and Trump Administrations to secure it. It's clear people and businesses thrive when they are better connected, and this big investment helps our city reach this goal.

The additional time spent in Indy helped reaffirm the things our community, and others across America, need to thrive. This includes better health care, access to good jobs, quality schools, public safety, a cleaner environment, and more.

House Democrats are committed to delivering on these priorities for the people. Just this week we advanced smart gun safety bills that take additional steps to keep guns out of the wrong hands. We also worked to protect our environment by voting to ban oil and gas drilling off of our coasts and in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

And we are continuing to hold the Trump administration accountable, utilizing every tool at our disposal to ensure the President follows our nation's laws. And that includes the option of impeachment.

In these turbulent times, I remain focused on representing Hoosiers of all stripes in Washington and making sure Congress is working hard for our community and for every American.
