It
has
been
a
busy
August
traveling
around
our
district!

In
the
past
week,
I
visited
with
the
Ephrata
Review
(pictured
above),
the
Reading
Eagle,
LNP,
and
Elizabethtown
Advocate
to
discuss
what
I’ve
been
working
on
in
the
House.
You
can
read
about
my
conversation
with
the
Reading
Eagle here,
LNP here,
Elizabethtown
Advocate here.

This
week
I
visited
a
Rite
Aid
in
Lancaster
County.
We
discussed
issues
impacting
our
local
community
pharmacies
and
their
work
in
the
health
care
system.
I
even
got
my
flu
shot
while
I
was
there!

I
had
the
pleasure
of
meeting
with
Melissa
and
Jessica
from
CASA
of
Lancaster
County.
CASA
works
to
provide
qualified
and
compassionate
court-appointed
advocates
for
children
who
are
abused
and
neglected.
We
had
a
wonderful
conversation
about
foster
care
efforts
in
our
district.
To
read
about
my
foster
care
legislation
that
passed
the
House
of
Representatives
and
see
me
speak
about
the
importance
of
foster
care,

Congratulations
to
the
Avon
Grove
High
School
women’s
swim
and
men’s
lacrosse
teams
on
their
state
championships!
Thank
you
for
the
opportunity
to
address
these
impressive
young
men
and
women.
We
are
proud
of
your
accomplishments!
You
can
see
me
speak
on
the
floor
of
the
House
of
Representatives
about
the
lacrosse
team’s
championship here.

I
had
a
sweet
time
touring
Palmer
Candy’s
facility!
Located
in
Reading,
Palmer
is
the
4th
largest
chocolate
manufacturer
in
the
United
States.
I
am
especially
fond
of
their
delicious
peanut
butter-filled
chocolate
treats!

The
weather
held
off
long
enough
for
a
nice
evening
with
constituents
at
the
Elizabethtown
Fair.
It’s
always
a
pleasure
to
engage
with
folks
from
across
the
district!

It
was
great
to
visit
the
food
bank
at
Kennett
Area
Community
Service.
I
enjoyed
speaking
with
the
volunteers
and
stakeholders
who
support
this
organization
to
help
families
like
the
one
pictured
above.
You
can
learn
more
about
this
organization here.

I
had
a
wonderful
visit
with
the
staff
at
La
Communidad
Hispana
in
Kennett
Square.
This
incredible
facility
is
a
diverse,
bilingual
federally
qualified
health
center
that
provides
low-income
residents
with
health
services,
social
assistance,
education,
and
job
placement.
***

I
had
a
productive
conversation
with
the
2nd
Century
Alliance
on
Coatesville
economic
redevelopment.
We
discussed
ways
to
work
together
to
promote
growth
in
our
local
economy.
If
you’d
like
me
to
visit
your
organization,
school,
or
business,
you
can
invite
me here.
***

I
discussed
the
rising
cost
of
drug
prices
with
leaders
from
the
Campaign
for
Sustainable
Rx
Pricing.
It
was
beneficial
to
hear
their
unique
perspective
on
this
important
issue!

I
met
with
Bread
for
the
World
recently
to
discuss
hunger
and
the
federal
budget.
We
had
a
good
discussion
about
eradicating
hunger
in
our
community.
If
you
would
like
to
schedule
a
meeting
with
me,
you
can
do
so here.

National
dog
day
took
place
on
August
26th,
you
can
see
my
dog,
Koda
pictured
above!
In
Congress,
I
have
cosponsored
legislation
to
protect
women
and
animals
from
abuse.
Many
victims
of
domestic
violence
are
often
reluctant
to
leave
their
situation
if
they
cannot
take
their
pets
with
them,
for
fear
of
what
the
abuser
might
do
to
their
pets.
The
bipartisan
Pet
and
Woman
Safety
Act
would
address
obstacles
to
getting
help
for
these
victims
by
providing
shelter
and
housing
assistance
victims
and
their
pets.
You
can
read
more
about
this
important
legislation here.
