I’m pretty sure I’m the only engineer that’s ever designed a saw mill in the United States Congress, but sometimes being different has its benefits. As the only forester in Congress, I serve on the Natural Resources Committee. And I was asked to author and help run a new forestry bill this year, and that was just very exciting to be the lead sponsor on that bill. It is sitting over in the Senate right now, waiting for the Senate to act. I told a group the other day that while the West burns, the Senate fiddles. But this is a bill that would help to properly manage the forests, do a lot of the things that we do here in Arkansas, even on our federal lands. Watch the video...

I was the guest speaker on Tuesday, August 25, at the Pine Bluff Rotary Club. During the visit, I updated Rotarians about my service in Congress, including my opposition to the Iran nuclear deal. To read more about my views on Iran, click here to read the story from the Pine Bluff Commercial.

Thanks to Tracy Simpson (left)and Tom Nichols for having me on KVRE in Hot Springs Village this morning. It's always a pleasure to update listeners about the work I'm doing in Washington and around the Fourth District.
