News from Representative Tom Emmer

Dear Friend,

When I have the opportunity to speak with my constituents and hear their opinions, they often tell me that our country’s tax system must be reformed. Our confusing and antiquated tax system is stifling the upward mobility of the middle and lower class. To hear more of what I have to say on tax reform, and legislation I am working on, click here.

A Step in the Right Direction

My first six months on the House Financial Services Committee has flown by, and I am proud to say that this milestone was marked by success. On Tuesday, my legislation, the Financial Stability Oversight Council Reform Act passed out of the committee. Now that we have moved this legislation through the House Financial Services Committee, we are one step closer to bringing transparency to and providing Congressional review of the Financial Stability Oversight Council and the Office of Financial Research. Congressional App Challenge

Attention all high school students! I’m excited to announce that my office will be participating in the annual Congressional App Challenge. This exciting challenge invites high school students from around the country to create their own software application for mobile devices, better known as an app.

This challenge is incredibly important because it encourages students to develop Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic (STEM) based skills which have become increasingly important in a world with rapid technological advances. Minnesota Sure is Beautiful…Here’s the Proof

I would like to thank everyone who participated in my “Keep Minnesota Beautiful Photo Challenge.” Over the month of October, my staff and I were amazed by the incredible photos that were sent to us from all over Minnesota’s Sixth District. I am proud to announce that the winner of this competition is Barb Aaber, who sent this stunning photo of Palmer Township in Sherburne County.

Come with Questions

Lastly, I would like to encourage everyone to come out to my 12th town hall, which will take place on November 9th in Wright County. When I first took office in January, I promised my constituents that I would remain accessible and accountable. After this town hall, I will have held a town hall in every county within Minnesota’s Sixth District. Hope to see you there!

I hope you and your families have a fantastic weekend, and until next week…

Sincerely,
