Upthegrove
Housing
Plan
Signed
into
Law
As
so
many
of
you
know,
King
County
is
facing
a
housing
affordability
crisis.
Too
many
of
our
friends
and
neighbors
are
paying
a
third
or
more
of
their
household
budgets
toward
housing,
which
means
that
they
are
only
one
major
car
repair
or
family
illness
away
from
homelessness.
In
response,
we
need
to
build
as
much
housing
as
possible,
as
quickly
as
possible.
I’m
pleased
to
announce
that
my
plan
to
invest
an
estimated
$87
million
in
affordable
housing
projects
near
transit
stations
was
approved
by
the
full
King
County
Council
this
week.
On
Wednesday
I
joined
King
County
Executive
Dow
Constantine
at
Highline
College
for
the
bill
signing.
Approximately
$10
million
will
be
dedicated
to
projects
near
light
rail
in
South
King
County.
This
plan
will
create
over
1,000
affordable
housing
units
over
the
next
five
years.
