Hi Eric -

As your representative, my top priority is your safety. So today I wanted to share important updates on COVID-19 in Kansas, and how we'll continue to work for you moving forward.

Yesterday, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment announced three new cases of COVID-19 in Johnson County. They also reported the first COVID-19 related death in Wyandotte County.

We’ve created a coronavirus information web page so people can access the latest details. Please click here to learn more.

We’re in close contact with local and state public health officials, who are working around the clock to curb the spread of this virus. We are committed to doing everything we can to keep our community safe, prepared and informed.

With that commitment in mind, today I am announcing operational changes to our offices to protect staff and constituents. This will help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, while still providing outstanding constituent services and legislative operations for our community.

ImageLast night, I held a Call With Your Congresswoman on the coronavirus with Representative Kim Schrier, a pediatrician from Washington state. We shared an update on our work to address this situation and answered your questions.

Beginning on Monday, March 16, we will transition to an all-telework operation at our Washington, D.C., Overland Park, and Kansas City offices until further notice.

While our offices’ physical locations will be closed, we will still provide a continuity of services for Kansans, including:

· Receiving and responding to telephone calls. If you need to speak to a member of our team, you can call my Washington, D.C. office at (202) 225-2865, my Overland Park office at (913) 621-0832, or my Kansas City office at (913) 766-3993.

· Helping you navigate the federal government. If you are having issues such as stalled tax refunds or difficulty accessing Veteran’s benefits, we may be able to help. You can call my Overland Park office at (913) 621-0832 or my Kansas City office at (913) 766-3993 for assistance.

· Responding to your concerns. The best way to contact our office is via phone or email. You can email us here.

· Scheduling and taking meetings. If you would like to request a meeting with me or a member of my team, you can submit a meeting request here. Please note, as long as our teleworking policy is in place, we will conduct meetings via phone or video conference rather than in person.

Furthermore, our neighborhood pop-up office hours in Kansas will be postponed until further notice. If you need assistance right away, please call my Kansas City office at (913) 766-3993 or my Overland Park office at (913) 621-0832. In addition, our office will not be able to conduct or coordinate tours in Washington, D.C. until further notice.

We all have a role to play in reducing the spread of this virus in our community, which is crucial for protecting people who are most at risk from severe complications. That includes practicing preventative measures like washing your hands with soap and water, staying home when you are sick, covering your mouth when you cough or sneeze, and avoiding touching your face.

It’s an honor and a privilege to represent you. My team and I will be here for you as we navigate this public health crisis together, and we’ll help in any way we can.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. We’re here to serve you.

My warmest regards,
