Dear Neighbor,

Happy New Year!

It is our first week back starting the Second Session of the 114th Congress. We've begun the year off right by creating the momentum to help us pass legislation that puts America first. At the beginning of this week, the House voted on H.R. 3762 - Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act, legislation which would repeal the core of Obamacare and defund Planned Parenthood. It was sent to the President's desk and ultimately vetoed early today. While the President may have ignored the will of the people by vetoing this legislation, I will continue to fight for hard-working Americans and the defenseless unborn.

In more positive news, the first crude oil export cargo will be leaving this week from the Houston Ship Channel due to our lifting of the oil export ban last month. Our district is at the center of energy production in the United States and will benefit greatly from having the ban on oil exports lifted permanently. This is the start of great things for the area, especially our local economy and the creation of more good-paying jobs!

Don't forget - Tuesday January 12 @ 8PM CST will be President Obama's final State of the Union Address. The GOP response will be given by South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley immediately following the conclusion of the State of the Union.

With the start of the new session of Congress there will be a lot of things happening, I encourage you to stay connected with me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding any legislative or district business, please feel free to call one of my offices. Remember that I work for you and my offices are here to help.

Sincerely,

Randy K. Weber
