Weber Commemorates
Juneteenth
in
DC

Last
week,
I
met
with
Friendswood
artist,
Ted
Ellis.
Mr.
Ellis
was
featuring
his
art
commemorating
the
150th
Anniversary
of
Juneteenth.
It
was
a
pleasure
meeting
Ted
Ellis
and
learning
about
his
passion
to
educate
the
community
on
our
mutual
heritage.
Ted’s
artwork
not
only
tells
a
story
about
the
journey
of
our
great
nation
but
evokes
a
feeling
of
empowerment
and
hope.
Though
impossible
to
pick
a
favorite
of
these
inspiring
pieces,
I
was
drawn
to
the
history
and
emotion
of
“Free
at
Last”.
The
Juneteenth
Freedom
Project
serves
as
encouragement
for
younger
generations
that
are
working
on
a
global
scale
for
justice
and
freedom.
On
June
15th,
I
introduced
a
resolution
(H.Res.
316)
to
observe
the
historical
significance
of
Juneteenth
Independence
Day.
