District Update |September 2, 2019

Dear Friend,

Today, we recognize our workforce and the contributions American workers have made to strengthen and grow our nation. We hope everyone had a safe Labor Day weekend spent with family and friends. Now, I would like to take this opportunity to update you on this past week in Arizona.

Arizona-Mexico Trade Commission Website

This Congress, I have served on a team working to advance the United States, Mexico, Canada Agreement (USMCA). I am proud of the work my colleagues and I have done this year; however, we are still waiting on Speaker Pelosi to bring this updated trade agreement to the floor for a vote.

We should be making our first vote back from the district work period on passage of the USMCA. This modernized trade agreement will bring more jobs and prosperity to our economy while also strengthening our trading relationships with neighbors Mexico and Canada.

We know how important trade with our neighbors is here in Arizona. To learn about the impact passing this trade agreement would have on Arizona, check out a new website developed this week. You will find facts and figures on Arizona's imports and exports with Mexico and Canada, along with information for how this agreement will bolster our economy and create more jobs in out state.

Constituent Casework Spotlight

Our Scottsdale office receives calls each day regarding federal casework issues and assistance. On June 17, Mr. Lehr from Scottsdale contacted our office requesting assistance with a Medicare issue. He had been waiting 2 months for his Medicare Beneficiary Identification Number (BIN) to be activated so he could access his account because he had neither the BIN nor his Medicare card.

We were able to get Mr. Lehr’s BIN and gave it to him on June 26th; however, the casework was reopened because Medicare could not verify his enrollment in Part A or Part B coverage which prevented him from enrolling in Part D prescription coverage. On July 11, we were notified that the processing error on Medicare’s part was resolved and that Mr. Lehr was now enrolled in Part A and B coverage and eligible for Part D enrollment.

If you, or someone you know, is having difficulties with their Medicare coverage or any issues with other federal agencies, be sure to reach out to our Scottsdale office using my website or giving us a call at: (480) 946-2411.

Meeting With Constituents

I had the chance to meet with constituents who have experienced life-threatening situations and challenges, but you wouldn't know it with their inspirational attitudes and positivity.

We discussed their challenges with our healthcare system and care they were provided, along with the medical breakthroughs we are seeing that have given hope to others experiencing challenges similar to theirs. I am grateful to have met these constituents and learn more about the challenges they have faced and how they are over coming them.

I appreciate you taking time to read my weekly e-newsletter. If you would like to contact me, please feel welcome to browse my website for the different services our office can help you with.
