News from Representative Waltz

Dear Friend,

Thank you for reading my newsletter! My team and I continue to work for you and our community. It was a very eventful week in Washington and I'm excited to tell you about what we accomplished. Here are some highlights:

  • The House passed the 2020 national defense spending bill to protect our assets in space through the Space Force, provide for our Gold Star families, stand by Israel and send Americans back to the moon
  • I voted NO on impeaching President Trump
  • The House passed USMCA, the historic trade agreement between the U.S., Canada and Mexico

PASSING NATIONAL DEFENSE FUNDING: On Tuesday, I voted to pass the 2020 House Appropriations Package. This funding package protects our assets in space through the Space Force, gives NASA the necessary funds to put the first woman and the next man to the moon, provides for our military, stands with our ally Israel and gives important disaster aid to Florida's military bases to help recover from Hurricane Michael.

BOOSTING TRADE THROUGH THE USMCA: On Thursday, after a long year of waiting, the House finally passed the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement (USMCA). For Florida, this means economic growth and prosperity. This agreement protects Florida's roughly $20 billion (and growing) two-way trade market with Canada and Mexico and adds almost 200,000 American jobs to an already booming economy. Thanks to President Trump and his administration, after promises from multiple administrations, we finally have a trade agreement to keep America's economy on the right track.

VOTING NO ON IMPEACHMENT: On Wednesday, I voted NO to impeach President Trump. This process has been unfair, secretive, politically-motivated from the start. As a Green Beret and a proud veteran who has fought all over the world, from Afghanistan to Africa, I have seen third-world countries with fairer processes than this. President Trump’s call with Ukraine doesn’t rise to the level of high crimes or misdemeanors worthy of impeachment. It’s a shame Congress has spent the better part of this year focused on impeachment rather than solving the problems Americans elected us to fix. I’m looking forward to moving on and finally getting back to work for the American people. Let’s let the American people decide the President next November.
