Dear
San
Franciscan,
The
families
of
the
victims
of
gun
violence
deserve
more
than
just
our
thoughts
and
prayers
they
deserve
real,
urgent
and
long-overdue
action
to
end
this
crisis.
But
just
days
after
the
worst
mass
shooting
in
modern
American
history,
the
House
Republican
Leadership
in
my
view
has
refused
to
even
begin
a
bipartisan,
common
sense
process
to
address
the
gun
violence
epidemic.
Congresswoman
Nancy
Pelosi
responds
to
questions
from
the
audience
on
gun
violence,
including
from
Bob
Patterson
who
lost
his
wife
in
the
Las
Vegas
mass
shooting.
During
her
CNN
Town
Hall,
she
promises
“We’re
never
going
to
rest
until
we
get
this
done.”
All
of
America
grieves
for
the
innocent
men
and
women
whose
lives
were
cruelly
cut
short
by
the
mass
shooting
in
Las
Vegas.
It
is
particularly
despicable
that
this
attack
was
carried
out
during
a
concert,
transforming
an
evening
of
music
and
celebration
into
a
heartbreaking
and
horrific
night
of
violence.
Now
more
than
ever,
the
Congress
has
a
greater
responsibility
than
just
thoughts
and
prayers
-
we
must
finally
take
commonsense
action
to
prevent
gun
violence.
Democrats
are
calling
on
the
House
Republican
Leadership
to:
- Permanently
abandon
the
radical
and
dangerous
SHARE
Act,
which
would
open
the
floodgates
to
silencers
and
armor-piercing
bullets.
- Pass
the
bipartisan
King-Thompson
legislation to
strengthen
the
life-saving
background
checks
that
keep
guns
out
of
the
wrong
hands.
- Establish
a
bipartisan
Select
Committee
on
Gun
Violence
to
study
and
report
back
commonsense
legislation
within
60
days.
- Ban
the
“bump
stocks”
that
cheat
the
law
and
enabled
the
Las
Vegas
shooter
to
spray
murderous
automatic
fire
at
innocents
at
a
rate
of
400
to
800
rounds
a
minute,
with
the
Cicilline-Thompson
bill,
which
has
nearly
150
cosponsors
so
far
(the
companion
to
Sen.
Feinstein’s
legislation
in
the
Senate).
Members
of
Congress
take
a
solemn
oath
to
protect
the
American
people.
Democrats
will
never
stop
fighting
to
protect
American
families,
and
we
urge
our
colleagues
to
join
us
to
take
long
overdue
action
to
reduce
the
horror
and
heartbreak
of
gun
violence.
