President
Vetoes
Keystone
XL
Pipeline
On
Tuesday,
the
President
had
the
opportunity
to
sign
a
bill
into
law
that
would
create
American
jobs
by
finally
allowing
construction
to
begin
on
the
Keystone
XL
Pipeline.
The
pipeline
would
transport
heavy
crude
to
be
processed
in
various
refineries
located
in
Illinois
and
Texas.
Once
again,
the
President
chose
to
put
politics
before
the
people.
Not
only
would
the
Keystone
XL
Pipeline
bring
good-paying
jobs
to
hard-working
Americans,
but
it
would
be
a
positive
step
forward
for
greater
American
energy
independence
and
security.
There
is
absolutely
no
reason
this
project
shouldn’t
move
forward.
The
President’s
very
own
State
Department
concluded
the
pipeline
would
have
no
significant
environmental
impact
and
would
be
the
safest
way
to
transport
crude
oil.
I
urge
the
Senate
to
move
quickly
on
a
vote
to
override
the
President’s
veto.
The
fight
for
the
Keystone
XL
Pipeline
is
not
over,
and
I
will
ensure
that
71-percent
of
the
American
people
who
support
this
project
are
heard.
The
Senate
has
until
March
3
to
vote
to
override
the
President’s
veto.
