District Update |June 23, 2019

Dear Friend,

Upcoming Events

This Tuesday, June 25th, at 6:00 p.m. AZ time, I will be hosting a telephone town hall for constituents to ask me questions and join neighbors in conversation to discuss issues affecting Arizona.

This will be an interactive way to speak with a vast amount of constituents, and hear the questions you have for me. I am looking forward to hearing constituent questions and concerns to best help me serve.

If you would like to be included in the telephone town hall, please us this link to add your contact information so we can give you a call directly.

Ways and Means Hearing on Trade

This past week, the Ways and Means Committee held a hearing to discuss our 2019 trade agenda with United States Trade Representative (USTR) Ambassador Lighthizer.

During the hearing, Members of the Committee discussed the need to ratify the United States, Mexico, Canada Trade Agreement (USMCA). We also discussed the United State's trading relationship with other countries, and what we can be doing as a committee to further our trading relationships. I spoke about how trade agreements affect Arizona, including the United States de minimus standards, seasonality provisions, and how we can benefit from trade with our neighbors.

Facebook's Step into Secure Global Currency

I am pleased to hear of Facebook's new platform Libra. As a Co-Chair of the Congressional Blockchain Caucus, this of great interest to me, seeing a stable coin be used throughout the platform. Blockchain can have an enormous impact in public policy, and I look forward to engaging in dialogue with Facebook as the project progresses and continuing to support blockchain technology in public policy.

Thank You to Our Service Members

This past week, our office helped assist a Soldier with his re-enlistment ceremony at the United States Capitol. Thank you to all of our active and retired service members for your service and strength in protecting our nation's safety and freedom.  It was an honor to be included in this ceremony, and may God bless our military.

Thanks for Stopping By

Thank you to all of the constituent groups stopping by the office this past week to discuss your legislative priorities. If you are planning a trip to Washington, D.C., please be sure to let our office know!
