News from Representative Tom Emmer

Dear Friend,

I want to begin this weekly update by expressing my deepest condolences to the Besser Family over the tragic death of Elk River police officer Todd Besser, and his son, Blake.

We may never fully comprehend why such events occur, but I pray that God provides healing and comfort for the Besser family, Officer Besser’s fellow officers, and for the greater St. Michael and Elk River communities.

If my office can ever be of service to any of you, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

National Police Week
On a somewhat related note, this week is National Police Week, a time when we remember the sacrifice of our nation’s law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. I spoke on the House Floor in honor of those we’ve lost, including Cold Spring’s Officer Tommy Decker.

This year’s commemoration falls during a time of heightened tension between our officers and the civilians they have sworn to protect, and serves as a solemn reminder to all of us the importance of communication, duty, and mutual respect.

You asked. I answered.
In my ongoing effort to be as accessible to you as possible, I hosted my first-ever online town hall this week.

I wanted you to ask me anything, and I am thrilled with the wide variety of topics in the questions. You asked me about everything from transportation to tater tots.

If you missed the town hall the first time around, you can find the whole video here.
