Happy Monday from Arizona -

I hope you're enjoying another Independence Day week in the United States of America. We are blessed to live in this country and to realize the freedoms afforded to us on a daily basis. May we never take them for granted.

More on this later in the week....

Last week, I responded to Representative Maxine Waters' shocking calls for harassment of political opponents. Most of us understand that the language she used is unacceptable for anyone, much less for a member of the most influential legislative body in the world. I introduced a resolution last week to censure Representative Waters for her comments - and that resolution is pending in the Ethics committee. We are hoping that, instead of a formal reprimand, Representative Waters will apologize for her intemperate comments and demonstrate the higher standard that we are called to as representatives of the American people.

Read MORE about my resolution and efforts in the Washington Times.

Last Friday, I released the latest podcast episode of What's the BIGGS Idea? - with my special guest, Congressman Matt Gaetz from Florida. Matt is a fellow change agent in D.C., who is keeping the promises he made to his constituents and helping move President Trump's agenda through Congress. He's a dynamic force to be reckoned with, and a good friend and ally as we attempt to peel back the curtains of government and restore transparency and justice. Click the logo to listen.

The Family Planning Program (or Title X of the Public Health Service Act), which was enacted in 1970, provides grant funding to public and non-profit organizations for family planning services.

The 1970 law included a strict prohibition against using those funds for “programs where abortion is a method of family planning.” However, for nearly two decades, federal regulations have ignored the intent of Congress by requiring that all grantees include abortion providers in their recommended treatment options.

READ what I am doing to help restore the original intent of Title X by requiring grantees to physically and financially separate abortion facilities from family planning facilities.

Last week, the House passed Congressman Mark Meadows'  resolution to request that, within seven days, the Department of Justice release the documents Congress has asked for in accordance with our responsibilities of oversight.

The DOJ has held this body and its constitutional authority in contempt for far too long, and our patience is wearing thin.

There has not been full compliance with our requests, nor has there been adequate reasons given for non-compliance.

We'll find out soon enough if the DOJ will finally comply. I'm still holding out hope - stay tuned.

FreedomWorks' bill of the month for July is my resolution, H. Res. 919, which recognizes the national debt as a threat to national security. Congress must stop talking about how bad our spending problem is and start cutting spending. This nation is flying over the fiscal cliff, and we will have no one to blame but ourselves if we continue with our free-spending ways. Thank you, FreedomWorks, for highlighting our efforts to pass this vital resolution.
