Greg's Treasure State Update

Happy New Year! After a busy 2017 in the U.S. House of Representatives with a focus on issues important to our state, I'm optimistic about what we can accomplish in the new year. My priorities are clear. I will continue putting Montana first, defending our country, and standing up for our rights.

Priorities for 2018

Putting Montana First: Last year, I voted to bring tax relief to hardworking Montanans and secured hundreds of millions of dollars for wildfire disaster relief. In 2018, I'll continue putting Montana first and protecting our way of life.

I'll also continue working to rein in abuses of the Endangered Species Act. The law was meant to preserve and recover endangered wildlife, a cause I'm committed to. But it has been twisted from its original purpose into a tool for unnecessary, frivolous lawsuits.

And I'll remain focused on cleaning up Washington with term limits, a ban on members of Congress lobbying, and a balanced budget.

Defending Our Country: Last year, I voted to increase our troops' pay, strengthen our armed forces, and provide better care for our veterans. But danger from North Korea, ISIS, and Iran continues to threaten our nation's security. I will keep the military, our veterans, and the security of our nation at the very top of my priority list for 2018.

Standing up for Our Rights: In 2017, I worked to reduce federal overreach, whether it was on our farms and ranches, at our rural hospitals, or with our Second Amendment rights. This year, I will continue working to preserve access to public lands, defend our constitutional rights, and limit the size and scope of Washington.

It was great welcoming members of the Montana Association of Counties (MACo) to Washington recently. We discussed issues important to all Montanans, including PILT (Payment in Lieu of Taxes) and the Secure Rural Schools program.

If you, your family, or your organization are planning a trip to Washington, I hope you’ll contact me so we can help you with tours of the Capitol, the White House, and other landmarks. I’d also like to visit with you and talk about issues important to you.
