BACK HOME IN PA-13

My week began on Monday with a pair of events in Tyrone. First, I stopped by the Tyrone Public Library to donate books from the Library of Congress. The presentation was front page news in The Daily Herald this week.

During my second event of the day, I toured Gardner Candies. They have been open since 1897 and they now employ 100 people. Businesses like this are so important to the economy in our area and I look forward to continuing to support policies that allow them to grow and expand.

DOWN IN WASHINGTON

It was a busy week in Congress. On Tuesday, I welcomed community and business leaders from Chambersburg to my office. It is always a pleasure to give constituents the chance to sit in my chair in DC and inform me on the issues they are facing in their community. If you have not yet come by my Washington office, feel free to do so.

On Wednesday I welcomed Mr. Shawn Pulford, CEO of LB Water Service in Chambersburg, before a House Committee on Small Business panel highlighting "small business heroes." In his dialogue with the committee, Mr. Pulford testified about how the 2017 tax cuts are spurring growth across Franklin County and emphasized the need for Congress to pass an infrastructure package.

On Thursday I had the opportunity to talk to law enforcement officials about our broken immigration system. They agree that in order to stop the crisis at the southern border we need to reform our asylum system and end catch and release. They also support the Fix the Immigration Loopholes Act, legislation I cosponsor which will make those reforms a reality.

You can watch that exchange by clicking on the picture below.
