This
Week
in
Congress
On
Thursday,
His
Holiness
Pope
Francis
spoke
to
a
Joint
Session
of
Congress.
In
his
speech,
Pope
Francis
highlighted
the
importance
of
upholding
traditional
family
values, protecting
the
sanctity
of
life,
and
standing
up
for
freedom.
A
video
of
the
Pope's
address
can
be
found
here.
Friday,
I
supported
and
helped
pass the
bipartisan
RAPID
Act.
This
bill
would
streamline
the
federal
environmental
regulatory
review
process,
which
will
help
West
Virginia
businesses
receive
federal
permits
more
quickly,
so
that
they
can
move
forward
with
their
projects.
Also
on
Friday,
Speaker
of
the
House
John
Boehner
announced
that
he
will
resign
from
Congress
at
the
end
of
October.
I
am
grateful
for
Speaker
John
Boehner
for
his
service
to
our
country.
I
respect
Speaker
Boehner
and
wish
him
the
best
as
he
enters
the
next
phase
of
his
blessed
life.
I
look
forward
to
working
with
my
colleagues
in
the
U.S.
House
of
Representatives
to
select
a
Speaker
who
will
fight
for
West
Virginia
jobs
and
values.
This
Week
in
the
2nd
District
Early
this
week,
I
had
the
pleasure
of
visiting
many
different
groups
and
businesses
near
Charleston!
On
Monday,
I
met
with
local
Credit
Union
officials
who
provide
invaluable
support
to
many
West
Virginia
families
and
businesses.
Tuesday,
I
toured
the
Home
Depot
of
South
Ridge
and
the
Chemours
Plant
in
Belle,
which
employs
over
600
hardworking
people.
One
of
my
favorite
aspects
of
serving
as
your
U.S.
Representative
is
traveling
home
to
our
district
to
meet
with West
Virginians who
are
doing
great
things
around
our
state:
creating
jobs,
running
a
religious
or
civic
organization,
educating
our
youth,
working
and
raising
a
family,
or
caring
for
our
seniors
or
those
in
need
-
just
to
name
a
few.
It
is
far
too
common
for
Big
Government
to
get
in
the
way
of
our
ability
to
perform
these
important
responsibilities.
I
am
fighting
for
common-sense
reforms
to
government
that
lower
our
taxes,
reduce
burdensome
regulations,
and
that
honor
our
state
motto:
"Mountaineers
Are
Always
Free."
Please
take
a
minute
to
watch
my
recent interview
where
I
discuss
opportunities
to
reform
the
Federal
Government.
If
you
have
any
thoughts
on
how
I
can
better
serve
you,
please
