Let's Get to Work

Dear Friend,

I am frustrated. I have only held office for two weeks and already I am incredibly frustrated with Washington’s inability to get things done. Essential functions of our government are nonoperational and members of the Coast Guard are not getting paid. At the same time, no new measures are being taken to address border security.  We must find solutions and vote on legislation that has a real chance of passing through the Senate and being signed into law. All 435 members of Congress should be working in Washington every day until we get the job done. I didn’t come to Congress to play games. I came here to take on the tough issues and get results for the First District.

First House Floor Speech: Let’s Do Our Job

On the House floor giving my speech. You can watch the video HERE.

On Wednesday night, I gave my first U.S. House of Representatives floor speech on the need to end the government shutdown. Rather than playing political games with government funding and border security, let’s work on solutions. In the private sector, you don’t leave until the job is done. I’m ready to stay here until we get our job done. Let’s get to work.

Joining the Racine Community to Honor MLK’s Life

Saturday morning at St. Paul's Missionary Baptist Church

Prior to heading out to Washington, this past weekend, I joined members of St. Paul’s Missionary Baptist Church for their 28th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. prayer breakfast in Racine. It was a great morning filled with prayer, laugher, and celebration. As we honor the life of MLK, we must remember Dr. King’s call for civility and decency in our lives and communities.

Happy National Milk Day!

Enjoying some delicious milk in Mount Pleasant

While Washington continues to fail to get its work done, here in Wisconsin we have many industries working harder than ever.  One of those is the dairy industry.  January 11th was National Milk Day. I stopped at a Kwik Trip in Mount Pleasant to celebrate. Our state has more than 1.2 million dairy cows—they don’t call Wisconsin “America’s Dairyland” for nothing! Thanks to all in our dairy industry for their hard work.
