News from Representative Tom Emmer

Dear Friend,

As you may have seen, I wrote an op-ed in the Star Tribune outlining why I support trade promotion authority (TPA), and think that it is so important for our state and country. I also address some of the common misconceptions surrounding TPA in this week’s video update:

Congresswoman Mimi Walters and I are the freshman leads on a letter to President Obama urging him to work with Congress on enacting TPA legislation. More than two dozen of our colleagues signed on in support. Text of this letter can be found here.

Selma. Alabama
This past weekend I had the opportunity to join the congressional delegation to Alabama to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the “Bloody Sunday” march in Selma.

It was an honor to stand side-by-side with my colleagues in Selma this weekend. The beauty of the American system is that we are a nation of laws, and everyone deserves equal protection under them. As we pause and reflect on the anniversary of such a dark time in American history, may we never forget the efforts of those who fought for equality in this nation. It is now our responsibility to ensure that their legacy lives on in our children and our children's children.
