News from Representative Tom Emmer

Dear Friend,

This week we fulfilled our promise to those who elected us by voting to repeal Obamacare.

But if our aim is to increase heath care options while also decreasing costs, it is not enough for Congress to simply be against Obamacare—we need to offer alternatives and real solutions.

In my speech on the House Floor and my op-ed in the HillI share a few of my constituents' stories and outline free-market possibilities to help lower health care costs and increase choices.

I am committed to working with my colleagues to get it done. It’s time to stop playing party politics with the public’s health.

Affordable and Accessible Health Care
In the wake of new privacy concerns on the Obamacare website, the new majority in Congress will need to work on health care solutions. How has Obamacare impacted you, your family, or your business? I want to hear your story.

Protecting Those At-Risk
Last week the House tackled a somber issue. The tragedy of human trafficking is a global crisis, and it’s right in our backyards. In the United States alone, the Justice Department estimates there are more than 200,000 children “at risk” of trafficking.

We took important votes to streamline agency processes and responses, improve the effectiveness of grant awards, and expand the scope of outreach and child protection initiatives.

I joined my colleagues in a special order on the House Floor to highlight these important bills, but also touch on Minnesota-based organizations that are helping in our fight against exploitation.

Join me for Coffee?
I would love to meet with you. Over the next two years, I will host several coffee town halls. It’s an informal opportunity for you and me to discuss the issues that matter most to you. The next coffee event will be Thursday, February 19 in Downtown St. Cloud. Visit Emmer.house.gov/coffee for more information.

Sincerely,

Tom
