Weber's
First
Amendment
Passes
House
Floor
As
a
Freshman
Congressman,
I
wanted
my
first
piece
of
legislation
in
the
House
to
positively
impact
my
district.
Folks,
the
amendment
I
offered
up
on
May
22
not
only
benefited
Texas
14,
but
the
greater
good
of
our
Country.
We
are
taking
positive
steps
forward
that
will
put
us
on
a
path
toward
energy
independence
while
creating
jobs
and
generating
new
spending
for
the
US
economy.
The
amendment
I
offered
(H.
Res
214)
highlights
the
findings
of
the
State
Department’s
exhaustive
environmental
review
of
the
Keystone
XL
Pipeline
and
strengthens
the
argument
to
pass
the
Northern
Route
Approval
Act,
which
declares
that
a
Presidential
permit
is
not
required
for
the
Keystone
XL
Pipeline’s
application.
My
amendment
simply
sets
the
record
straight
by
adding
findings
from
this
Administration’s
State
Department
that
attest
to
the
safety
and
environmental
soundness
of
this
project. The
science
supports
approval
of
the
Keystone
XL
Pipeline,
and
I
agree.
Given
the
facts,
I
see
no
reason
to
make
the
American
people
wait
any
longer
for
a
project
whose
construction
will
support
upwards
of
40,000
jobs
and
generate
upwards
of
$2
billion
in
earnings.
Along
with
my
amendment,
which
passed
the
floor
by
a
vote
of
246
to
168;
Congressman
Lee
Terry’s
(R-Nebraska)
legislation,
the
Northern
Approval
Act
passed
the
House
floor
by
a
vote
of
241
to
175
(1
Present
vote).
Sincerely,

Randy
K.
Weber
