March

2017
Happy
Thursday,
Minnesotans.
I'm
writing
the
newsletter
from
the
senate
floor
a
day
early this
week.
We
were
in
session
last
night
until
3:30
am--we
passed
three
omnibus
bills.
They
were
the
Jobs/Energy/Commerce
bill;
the
Environment
bill,
and
the
State
Government/Veterans
Affairs
bills.
I
voted
yes
on
the
first
bill
and
no
on
the
other
two.
The
Senate
Clock
as
I
left
the
Senate
Chamber
this
morning
Today
in
session
we
are
hearing
the
Reinsurance
bill,
the
Real
ID
bill,
the
Agriculture
bill
and
the
Transportation
bill.
I
anticipate
I
will
vote
no
on
the
reinsurance
bill,
which
again
gives
$550
million
to
insurance
companies,
with
no
guarantees
that
rates
or
coverage
will
improve
next
year.
I
will
wait
to
hear
the
floor
debate
on
the
other
bills.
In
my
newsletter
next
week
I
will
go
through
each
of
these
bills
and
explain
my
votes.
I
will
say
that
I
feel
confident
that
I
can
vote
the
spirit
of
the
district,
because
you,
the
people
of
our
community,
have
contacted
me
so
regularly
and
carefully
with
your
views
on
these
issues. All
of
these
omnibus
bills
have
some
good
things
and
some
bad
things,
and
as
a
senator
I
only
get
one
vote
on
each
bill.
But
as
I
balance
the
good
and
the
bad,
I
often
recall
phrases
from
your
emails,
your
phone
calls,
and
your
visits
to
my
office.
So
keep
it
up
and
thank
you
for
sending
me
down
here
to
St.
Paul.
We're
skipping
the
facebook
video
this
week
due
to
the
busy
schedule, but
I'll
be
back
on
social
media
next
week.
