Upcoming superintendent town halls

I’m reaching out with a special notice about two important education-related updates.

As you may have seen in the news, the Department of Education has asked all school superintendents to reapply for their jobs. Over the coming weeks, DOE will hold town hall meetings for parents in each school district to meet and ask questions to the finalists. Our schools need your voice and your engagement in these and other important decisions.

Please attend these community town halls to meet the finalist candidates for superintendent for your child’s school district and ask them your questions.

Don’t see your child’s school district listed below? You can access the full list of superintendent town halls at the registration link below.

• District 79 - May 19th at 7:15pm
• District 15 - May 20th at 7:15pm
• District 75 - May 25th at 7:15pm 
• District 20 - May 27th at 5:00pm
• Transfer High Schools - June 1st at 5:00pm

MS 936 admissions engagement session

Finally, there will be a Community Engagement Session for local parents about MS 936, which recently changed admissions policies from a zoned school model to an auditions-based admissions process for the next school year. There will be a presentation on admissions data and the school’s audition process, followed by breakout discussions soliciting feedback and suggestions on these two components on May 24th at 6:00pm.

It's important that community members with questions or concerns about this process attend this meeting. Spanish, Mandarin and Arabic interpretation will be provided. Click here to register.
