Dear
San
Franciscan,
In
October
of
last
year,
the
Trump
Administration
announced
its
plans
to
roll
back
the
Clean
Power
Plan.
This
was a
landmark
Obama-era
initiative
to
tackle
harmful
carbon
pollution.
In
my
view,
the
White
House’s
short-sighted,
dangerous
decision
to
dismantle
the
monumental
plan
is
a
direct
assault
on
the
health
of
our
nation’s
children.
Yet
again,
I
see
this
Administration's
policies
showing
its
disregard
for
the
security
and
health
of
the
American
people
with
their
corporate
agenda
that
is
choking
our
skies
and
accelerating
the
climate
crisis.
In
the
face
of
record
wildfires,
surging
hurricanes,
and
climbing
asthma
rates,
there
can
be
no
question:
the
damage
of
carbon
pollution
jeopardizes
the
health
of
our
children,
the
strength
of
our
economy
and
the
security
of
our
nation. Every
year,
air
pollution
contributes
to
more
than
20,000
deaths
a
year
in
the
United
States
and
disproportionately
affects
low-income
families
and
communities
of
color.
The
Clean
Power
Plan
will
help
curb
carbon
pollution,
and
prevent
90,000
asthma
attacks
and
3,600
premature
deaths
per
year
by
2030.
You
can
share
your
thoughts
on
the
Administration’s
decision
to
repeal
the
Clean
Power
Plan
by
attending
the
EPA’s
listening
session
on
February
28th
at
the
San
Francisco
Main
Library
or
you
can
also
leave
a
public
comment

From
pulling
out
of
the
Paris
Climate
Accord
to
gutting
environmental
protections
for
our
communities
to
exposing
our
shores
to
dangerous
drilling,
I
believe
the
White
House
has
made
clear
its
complete
disinterest
in
advancing
cleaner
air,
cleaner
water,
and
cleaner
energy.
I
believe
the
President’s
systematic
overhaul
of
our
nation’s
most
cherished
environmental
protections
will
continue
to
be
met
with
opposition
from
cities,
states,
and
the
American
people.
House
Democrats
are
proud
to
join
in
the
fight
for
the
future
of
our
environment
and
planet
against
this
pro-polluter
special
interest
agenda.
