Rep. Elaine Luria's office looking to hire veteran for two-year fellowship

The chosen veteran for the paid two-year fellowship will work with active-duty and veteran constituents of Coastal Virginia and act as a facilitator between constituents and federal, state, and local agencies.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Rep. Elaine Luria's office is looking to hire veterans for a two-year paid fellowship program in her Virginia Beach district office.

The chosen veteran will work with active-duty and veteran constituents of Coastal Virginia and act as a facilitator between constituents and federal, state, and local agencies, as well as veteran service organizations.

Luria is the Chairwoman of the House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs.

"I am committed to ensuring our veterans – especially those injured during wartime – have the resources to succeed when they return to civilian life,” Congresswoman Luria said. “Coastal Virginia is home to thousands of talented veterans, and I am proud to work with the Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program to help ensure our returning heroes get the benefits they have earned.”

The fellowship is the Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program which was established by the House of Representatives to provide opportunities for wounded or disabled veterans to work for Congress.

The program will hire a veteran who was honorably discharged, released from active duty within the last five years, terminal pay grades at or below E-5 or O-3, and 20 percent or greater service-connected disabilities (waived if a veteran has a Purple Heart).

Veterans who are in receipt of a 20-year or Temporary Early Retirement Authorization (TERA) retirement are not eligible for the program.
