Congressman Williams Statement on American Health Care Act

May 4, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Roger Williams (R – Austin) Thursday afternoon released the following statement after the passage of H.R. 1628, the American Health Care Act.

"Obamacare has failed to meet the promises that were made to the American people. Since its inception, premiums have skyrocketed while deductibles and other out of pocket costs have made having insurance pointless. Insurers are leaving the marketplaces, thereby limiting choices and stifling competition. This is what happens when government takes power away from the people. The American Health Care Act will begin to undo the damage that has been caused by Obamacare. It will restore competition, bring down costs and increase options. All the while, it will protect our nation's most vulnerable. Today, we took a step forward in delivering on our promise to put healthcare back in the American peoples' hands."
