February 16, 2018
WASHINGTON, DC – Family Research Council Action released its annual Vote Scorecard for 2017, the First Session of the 115th Congress. The ‘True Blue' Award was presented to Congressman Roger Williams (R-Austin) for his steadfast support of faith, family and freedom.
Votes in the U.S. House of Representatives included:
No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act
Resolution of Disapproval to Overturn Obama's HHS Tittle X Rule
Obamacare Repeal and Replace
Amendment to Stop DOD Transgender Funding
Amendment to Undermine Congressional Authority Over D.C. Budget
Amendment to Stop D.C.'s Reproductive Health Non-Discrimination Act
Pain-Capable Unborn Children Protection Act
IPAB Repeal
Tax Cuts and Jobs Act
Congressman Williams issued the following statement upon receiving the award:
"Representing the 25th Congressional District of Texas is a great honor. I promised Texans that I would bring my conservative values to Washington and vote with my conscience every day. In the past year I have fought to protect the unborn, repeal Obamacare, and overhaul our nations' broken tax code. I am grateful for this recognition, and I look forward to continuing to uphold our American ideals."
Family Research Council Action President Tony Perkins made the following comments:
"We thank Rep. Williams for consistently voting to defend and advance faith, family and freedom. As a 'True Blue Member,' he voted 100% on FRC Action's Scorecard including votes to repeal and replace Obamacare, deliver long-needed tax cuts that are already providing much needed relief to working families, stand for religious liberty, overturn President Obama's transgender military policy, end the forced partnership between taxpayers and Planned Parenthood, and protect pain capable babies.
"Rep. Williams deserves praise for his unwavering commitment to stand for life, family, marriage, and religious liberty. Texans should be encouraged to know that they have a Member of Congress such as Rep. Williams who has come alongside other members and our president to begin the work of rebuilding our nation, and protecting the very values that made America great," concluded Perkins.
