Congressman Cohen Announces Three National Science Foundation Grants

LeMoyne-Owen, University of Memphis receive funding for STEM programs

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced three National Science Foundation grants totaling more than $2.4 million to Memphis institutions of higher education. LeMoyne-Owen College will receive $999,555 for scholarships for students majoring in the Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) disciplines. The University of Memphis will receive one grant of $1 million for recruitment diversity and another for $413,482 for improving STEM learning.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"This major investment in Memphis students pursuing their education in the STEM fields will go a long way in advancing them toward good, 21st Century jobs. I commend the National Science Foundation for endorsing the programs at both LeMoyne-Owen and the U of M, and congratulate both schools on this recognition."
